Flu Vacc checking at Epworth Equestrian on day of qualifier.
Please remember it is the owner’s / competitor’s responsibility to make sure the horse’s / pony’s vaccination certificate is correct. If a certificate is found to be incorrect the horse / pony will be issued either a yellow or red card. A red card (disqualification) flu vacc certificate will not be permitted to compete at the Qualifier. A disqualified horse / pony is not permitted to be substituted at the qualifier.
Please remind your members that the Booster or 2nd initial vaccination must not be later than Saturday 9th May 2026 for this qualifier.
Team Managers:
Please remind competitors that it is compulsory for Flu Vaccs and Hats to be checked before competing. Failure to do so may result in disqualification of the competitor. (If a team of 3 only is competing, this will result in the Team result being disqualified).
BRC Code of Conduct:
As this competition will run under BRC Rules, anyone in attendance will be bound by the BRC Code of Conduct.
All BRC code of conduct rules must be observed at the event unless the venue / organiser has given specific instructions that are still in line with health and safety guidelines. This includes: the welfare of the horses and ponies; the conduct of members, officials, volunteers and representatives; safeguarding and equality and diversity as well as social media and discipline.
For further information on the BRC Codes of Conduct please see the 2026 BRC handbook, pages 5 - 7.
Members should ensure that they are up to date with the BRC Code of Conduct to encourage a smooth competition; anyone found to be in breech of the BRC Code of Conduct is subject to discipline from the BRC disciplinary committee at their discretion.
Numbers to qualify:
BRC have adjusted the numbers to qualify due to requests from many areas. For further information on the numbers to qualify for BRC championships, members are advised to review the BRC 2026 handbook – page 98.
PPE:
Hats:
All hats must have a visible PINK BRC/BE/PC hat tag in place before they are worn on the showground, to show that they meet the current safety standards. There will be a trained official available on the day to do this for you if your hat does not currently have one. For up-to-date hat rules please see the current BRC Handbook. Hats with a fixed peak can ONLY be used for dressage and show jumping.
Body Protectors:
A body protector is not obligatory for Show Jumping competitions. However, competitors may wear an up-to-date standard body protector should they wish to, for up-to-date list of standards for body protectors please see the BRC handbook.
Riders wearing Exo Body Cage protectors must inform the secretary at all events, so medics can be informed.
